In South Korea, the new school year starts in March. But many countries treat September as the first month of the school year.
The new school year begins in September in most Anglophone countries, including the US and UK, and in France, Russia, Vietnam and Cuba. We compiled images showing students around the world as they greeted the start of a new school year.
