Ulleung County, North Gyeongsang Province, has announced its plans to build a runway that could accommodate smaller airplanes, between 140 and 1,200m in length, which would allow travelers to visit the island via plane as opposed to boat. The county government plans on finishing the runway by 2025. Up until now, travelers looking to visit Ulleung County have had to arrive by ferry. With the construction of the new runway and airport, however, travel time from Seoul to Ulleung Island is expected to be shortened to around one hour and a half. (provided by Ulleung County)
