The Korean Netflix original series “Narco-Saints” has made its way to the top of the chart for non-English TV series on the streaming site.

Netflix’s official Global Top 10 ranking showed “Narco-Saints” as having been watched for 62.65 million hours in the third week of September (Sept. 12-18), putting it solidly in first among non-English series available on the site.

The latest rankings reflected a four-rung jump from the drama’s place at No. 5 the week following its premiere on Sept. 9.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” another Korean show, had held the top spot on the streaming service’s rankings for seven straight weeks up until the week “Narco-Saints” premiered, when it fell to No. 4 (21.97 million hours streamed).

Of the 10 series on the list, half were Korean. Besides “Narco-Saints” and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” were “Young Lady and Gentleman” (No. 5 at 18.49 million hours), “Little Women” (No. 9 at 12.96 million hours) and “Alchemy of Souls” (No. 10 at 10.89 million hours). This just goes to show how hot Korean content is around the world.

Based on real events, “Narco-Saints” tells the story of a Korean drug lord’s illicit dealings in the small South American country of Suriname, and the civilian businessman who becomes involved in a National Intelligence Service operation to bring the kingpin down. The debut series of director Yoon Jong-bin, “Narco-Saints” drew interest with its star-studded cast that includes Ha Jung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, Park Hae-soo, and others.
