A coalition of organizations and activists in Korea voicing solidarity with Palestine, including Solidarity for Peace and Reunification of Korea, staged a rally outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in downtown Seoul on Thursday where they called on the US to stop funding the genocide of Palestinians.

The protest was organized ahead of US State Secretary Antony Blinken’s meeting with his Korean counterpart, Foreign Minister Park Jin, at the ministry that day.

In a press statement released that day, the US State Department said that Blinken met with Cho Tae-yong, the South Korean national security advisor, during his trip to Seoul, and underscored the vital nature of Korea-US cooperation in responding to global challenges, including instability in the Middle East.

Blinken also stressed the importance of aid to Ukraine and thanked Korea for its commitment to supporting Ukraine.

That day, Blinken lunched with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.
